Senior Software Engineer / Architect

Systems Mechanics is a leading big data software solution provider to the Telecoms industry, looking to add experienced IT professionals to their growing in-house development team at an exciting time in this industry.

Based in Whitstable, Kent, we have an immediate opportunity for experienced software engineers / architects to take a leading role in our expanding engineering department. SysMech is an established, growing Telecoms Big Data provider, looking for people with a good degree, seeking a challenging and rewarding career in software engineering.

Successful candidates will be enthusiastic thinkers, happy both designing, developing and implementing new modules for our Big Data product, Zen, alongside optimising and enhancing existing modules. The position involves working with people at all levels across the business, with responsibilities including development and test cycles, project scoping and specification, and team planning and management.

SysMech implements Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) development practices, where developers integrate code into a shared SVN repository frequently. Each integration is then verified by Jenkins automated build and test procedures.

 

Core Skills / Technologies

Good knowledge of the following core skills are essential:

  • Java (Core Java, Maven, Spring)
  • Linux (Red Hat/CentOS, Docker)
  • CD/CI Tools (Jenkins 2, Artifactory)

 

Desirable Skills / Technologies

Any experience with the following would be advantageous:

  • Working using Scrum in an Agile team
  • SQL/RDBMS (preferably Vertica or Postgres)
  • Enterprise Integration Patterns
  • Apache Camel integration framework
  • NodeJS, Groovy, C/C++
  • SVN version control
  • Mobile Networks (GSM, UMTS, CDMA or LTE)
