Graduate Software Developer in Test (Python)

Systems Mechanics is a leading big data software solution provider to the Telecoms industry, looking to add talented IT graduates to their growing in-house development team at an exciting time in this industry in a rapidly expanding organisation that offers a real differentiator to its customers.

Based in Whitstable, Kent, we have an immediate opportunity for Graduate Software Developers in Test in our expanding test group. SysMech is an established, growing Telecoms Big Data provider, looking for people with a good degree, seeking a challenging and rewarding career in software engineering.

Successful candidates will be enthusiastic thinkers, working with people at all levels across the business with opportunities to visit customers to see their work running in a live environment. The position is based in our test team, working in a collaberative environment developing and executing test scripts on our Automated Test Platform for the ETL product range which provides our customers a real-time view of their networks to ensure the efficient loading of billions of counters a day into a high performance analytics database.

SysMech implements Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) development practices, where developers integrate code into a shared SVN repository frequently. Each integration is then verified by Jenkins automated build and test procedures.

 

Core Skills / Technologies

Good knowledge of the following core skills are essential:

  • Python
  • Linux shell/scripting
  • SQL/RDBMS (preferably Vertica or Postgres)
  • IDE based development (preferably PyCharm)

 

Desirable Skills / Technologies

Any experience with the following would be advantageous:

  • Working using Jira/Kanban/Scrum in an Agile team
  • Unit Testing and Debugging
  • Linux Red Hat / CentOS
  • TestRail
  • Java
  • Maven
  • Spring
  • SVN version control
  • Mobile Networks (GSM, UMTS, CDMA or LTE)
  • Up to 2 years commercial software development
